Carbon Footprint

Funlus Oy’s estimated corporate carbon footprint is approximately 13.4 t CO₂ per year (year 2023).

Energy and Digital Services

To classify CO₂ emissions into Scope 1, 2, and 3 categories according to the GHG Protocol, we can consider the following guidelines:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling consumed by the company.
  • Scope 3: All other indirect emissions that occur in the company’s value chain.

Based on this:

    1. Energy and digital services (1,700): This includes the emissions from electricity consumption, which fall under Scope 2.
    2. Mobility (7,100): This refers to the movement or commuting of workers, which falls under Scope 3.
    3. Cardboard / paper (0,189): This refers to materials used in packaging, which are part of the supply chain emissions, so they fall under Scope 3.
    4. Materials and waste (1,700): Similar to packaging, materials and waste management are indirect emissions within the value chain, so they fall under Scope 3.
    5. Remote work (2,700): Emissions related to remote work are also indirect and part of the company’s value chain, so they fall under Scope 3.

Here is a summary of CO2 emissions, categorized into Scope 1, 2, and 3, along with their total amounts:

  • Scope 1: No emissions in this category.
  • Scope 2:
    • Energy and digital services: 1,700

    Scope 2 Total: 1,700

  • Scope 3:
    • Transportation: 7,100
    • Cardboard / paper: 0,189
    • Materials and waste: 1,700
    • Remote work: 2,700

    Scope 3 Total: 11,689

Scope 2 ja Scope 3 in total: 13,389

The company’s carbon footprint has been offset by supporting a reforestation project in Nicaragua, which helps local farming families and promotes the use of native species in practical conservation while creating new sources of income.
